Online Piano Lessons

Online lessons are a wonderful opportunity for students--especially older teens and adults! With online lessons, you don't have to worry about finding a teacher in your area--you can study with a teacher anywhere in the world whose schedule works with yours. You won't have to worry about travel times and the costs associated with traveling to lessons--in fact, if you're still working from home, you could even fit a lesson into your lunch hour! Outside events--like being sick or inclement weather--won't affect your ability to have a lesson because you don't have to leave your house..

Yes! A resounding yes! Many teachers have taught many students completely online over the last several years. Of course, with the effects of the pandemic, many teachers who had never considered teaching online have since made themselves experts in the methods of how to apply time-honored teaching methods to online scenarios. Those teachers have, in turn, taught other teachers. With tools and technology such as screen sharing, online classrooms, and more, you'll be surprised at how effective and rewarding online piano lessons can be!

I have to laugh when I hear this response. I really understand because only a few years ago, I was saying the same thing! Now, I enjoy working with the technology so that it provides what my students need. As a piano teacher, I will not only teach my students how to play piano, but I also make sure that they are able to benefit from the technologies we use in our lessons. Actually, online lessons require very little technologically from the students. They're really not more demanding than a video call.

You will need a device with a webcam that connects to the internet, an internet browser, and a stable internet connection. That's it! A laptop or tablet is nice because the larger screen will make it easier for you to see what I screenshare with you, but it's not necessary. I use several different platforms for online lessons, depending upon what the student has available. While I certainly have a favorite platform, I am constantly reconsidering so that my students get the best online lesson experience.
